Obituary: James G. Stevens, Age 89

James G. Stevens, age 89, of Shelton entered into rest on Saturday January 19, 2013 in Bridgeport Hospital. He is the devoted husband of over 67 years to Jean Spoor Stevens.

Mr. Stevens was born on March 30, 1923 in Stamford, NY son of the late Ward and Pauline ( Hitt) Stevens and has been a resident of Fairfield County for over 40 years. He received his BS Ch E and MS Ch E from Syracuse University.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during WWII, and then went on to a long career as an executive in GE until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed woodworking, wood carving, fishing and gardening.

He is the beloved father of Ralph Stevens and his wife Bonnie, James Stevens, and his wife Michelle, Eric Stevens, and his wife Karen, Sally Marriott and her husband George, and Jon Stevens, and his wife Meri. He is the brother of Robert Stevens, and his wife June, William Stevens, and his wife Billie, the late Clifton Stevens and his late wife Delores Stevens. He is the cherished grandfather of Chelsi Stevens, Hayley Stevens Miller, and her husband Alex, Rod Marriott and his wife Risa, Becky Marriott, Josh Marriott, and his wife Liz, Shannon Marriott, Nikki Stevens, Jacqui Stevens, and Dani Stevens. He also leaves a great grandson Riley Marriott, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday at 2:00 PM in the First United Methodist Church of Shelton, 188 Rocky Rest Road Shelton. At the request of the family memorial contributions may be made to the Bishop Wicke Health and Rehabilitation Center 580 Long Hill Ave Shelton, CT 06484, or to the First United Methodist Church at the above address. The Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Road has been entrusted with his arrangements.
