Obituary: Elva A. Tagg, Age 86

Elva A. Tagg, age 86, of Shelton entered into rest on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013 at Bridgeport Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 62 years to the late John Tagg, Sr. Mrs. Tagg was born in Bridgeport on Oct. 8, 1926 daughter of the late Reimer and Ella Banks Ahlgren. She was employed by the former Tenex for over 15 years until her retirement in 1990. Mrs. Tagg was a former Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph Church. She also enjoyed baking cookies for her family and friends. Her son Christopher provided a loving home for our parents and his brothers and sisters will always be grateful to him.

Mrs. Tagg is the loving mother of John Tagg and his wife Sue, Elva Karpenko and her husband Randy, Judy Creevy and her husband Jack, Donald Tagg, Frederick Tagg and his wife Kim, Katie Reilly Zielinski and her husband Bill, Christopher Tagg and Timothy Tagg. She is the loving grandmother of 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and a great great grandson Titan. Mrs. Tagg is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Elva treasured her life long friendships with Marion, Helen, Theresa, Marie and Esther. She is predeceased by a grandson Jared Tagg, a great grandson Jared Weidig, three brothers, John James, Edward James and Reimer Ahlgren, Jr., two sisters, Ethel Piccirillo and Catherine Jordon, and her son-in-law Peter M. Reilly.

Friends may call on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Tuesday, her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. Her burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery.
