Bertha B. Turecek, age 91 of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Edward Turecek, Sr. passed away peacefully on Monday, February 4, at St. Vincent’s Hospital. She was born in Shelton on July 9, 1921 to the late Joseph and Antonina Ruskiewicz Bukowski.

Bertha leaves behind her four loving children, Barbara Tucci and her husband Al; Ed Turecek, Jr. and his wife, Chris; Bill Turecek and his wife, Carrie; Joan Bartyzel and her husband, Walt; Grandchildren Melinda (Ray), Melissa, Aimee, Alison (Andy), Kristen (Kevin), and Michelle; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Amanda, Kendall, Morgan, Brady, and Wyatt. She is survived by her sister Helen Dobosz. She was predeceased by her husband Edward, brothers; John, Joseph, Fred, Peter and Ed, sister Sophie Hill, and grandson, Alfred Tucci III.

Bertha had supported her husband Ed for many years in his clock and watch repairing business known by Ed Turecek’s Watch and Clock Repair. Over the years, she enjoyed vacations at the Cape with her family, Sunday ski trips, going to the beach, picnics during the summer, and Sunday car drives with her husband Ed. She also enjoyed working out in the yard, and the rose was her favorite flower. She immensely enjoyed watching her favorite sports teams on TV, especially the UCONN Men and Women Huskies, NY Giants, and NY Yankees that she’d sometimes get so involved in the games she would yell at the TV telling the players what they did wrong.

She will be remembered most as a compassionate and gentle mother, the soul mate of her husband and best friend, Ed, and a hardworking, generous woman who always enjoyed the company of friends.

Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Thursday from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. or on Friday morning from 7:15 - 8:15 a.m. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church in Derby. Why is it the panel for this event does not include a single advocate for gun-owners' rights? WithRead More all due respect to Chief McNamara, why does the panel no include a person who can speak to gun safety from a gun-owning civilian's perspective? ML, you claim that the assembled folks "do not offer judgements about gun ownership" but they are not including a single voice that can offer perspective on gun ownership. I have been to "education" sessions sponsored by Meg's March for Change and they are one-sided indoctrinations into gun control advocacy. >>>> I was in Hartford for the public hearings in January when both Meg and March co-founder Nancy gave their personal testimonies and they all but threatened the legislators on the panel with election day retribution for all those who did not tow the gun-control line of thinking (i.e. March and CAGV). To suggest that Meg "does not offer judgements" is fallacious and disingenuous.
