Betty Jo Vaughan, 82, of Shelton, peacefully entered into rest on Saturday, November 23, 2013, in her home with her family by her side. She was the devoted wife of 55 years of Donald Michael Vaughan. Betty Jo was born in Belgrade, Maine on March 15, 1931, daughter of the late George and Beulah (Brooks) Kinney, and she lived in Shelton for over 50 years.

She was an Inspection Office Clerk for Sikorsky Aircraft until retirement. Betty Jo enjoyed crochet, and made quilts for all of her grandchildren. She also loved to travel and enjoyed spending time in Aruba and visiting Hawaii and Mexico. She always looked forward to her annual stay at Hampton Beach as well as her visit to the Big E.

In addition to her beloved husband, she was the loving mother of the late Donna Vaughan Garbien. She leaves five cherished grandchildren, Scott Garbien and his wife Christine, Timothy Garbien and his wife Danielle, Shawn Garbien and his wife Michele, Melissa Garbien, and Megan Vaughan Shamas and her husband James, and three great grandchildren, Steven, Kaitlyn, and Emily. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Thomas Vaughan and his wife Mary Jane and Gerald Vaughan and his companion Phyllis, sister-in-law, Mary Kezlevich, several nieces and nephews and a special niece Karen, to whom she was especially close. Betty Jo was predeceased by her precious dog, Chachi.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, and are private.
