How Do I Survive the Season of Fun and Food?
Party and Still Drop!
• Don’t skip meals, especially breakfast. This will
help prevent overeating later in the day.
• Don’t arrive hungry. Eat a small protein meal or
substantial snack prior to heading to the festivities.
• Stay hydrated. Drink at least 8 oz water before you eat.
• Bring a healthy dish to the party. You won’t show
up empty-handed, and you’ll know there is at least one
thing you can eat.
• Use smaller plates and bowls. This will help with
portion control.
• Choose the right plate fillers. Veggies, fruits,
cheese, and lean meats are healthy options.
• Limit your alcohol intake! Stay away from creamy
liquors and sugary mixers that pack on the calories!
• Stay away from the punch bowl. Holiday favorites
such as punch, apple cider, and hot chocolate contain
a lot of sugar and empty calories. Instead pour some
sparkling water in a wine glass and add some citrus
slices (orange, lemon, lime).
• Bite size is the right size for desserts. This is
especially true if there are lots you are tempted to try.
