A Television Blogger Comes to the Patch

I'm a Shelton native who really likes television - and I assume most of you do too. Let's chat.

I grew up in Shelton. We all agree on one thing: Wiffle Ball is the best yard game ever! But differences are many in this city. Whether you went to Shelton High or St. Joes, live in Huntington or Downtown, prefer Burger King or Duchess, or live off exit 11 or 14, one commonality (beyond the Wiffle Ball) is that most of us watch television.

It could be Discovery Channel, Food Network, premium cable, basic networks, or anything in between, but most of us watch.

Over four years ago, I started a college project to maintain a website and TheTwoCents.com was born. At the time, it was a a few friends and myself waxing on about all things pop culture - purely for fun. In 2011, the site is focused solely on television, has over 30 volunteer writers, covering over 100 shows, and gets well over 100,000 readers a month. I visit Chaz & AJ on WPLR regularly to chat TV, host a TV Podcast - and I still don't make a cent on it. Why do I keep doing this? Because I love television.

I have always loved it. Sesame Street taught me how to read early. Mr. Rogers taught me that the Hulk was just a man in makeup. I remember watching the finale of M*A*S*H* with my parents and OJ racing in a white bronco with my high school friends. In college, at UCONN, we all gathered around the small dorm TV to watch Beverly Hill 90210 (the original, thank you) and now I can't live without my DVR.

With this column here on The Patch, I hope to talk about what I'm watching and hope that the readers will feel free to chime in with their own TwoCents about what I have to say, or what's on their own televisions at home.

Coming up we have a lot of fun in store in the world of TV - the Emmy Awards, new Fall programming and more. I'll be watching, will you?
