The Valley United Way recently held its first annual Denim & Diamonds fundraiser event. The event was held at Molto Bene at John J Sullivan's.
What is Denim & Diamonds?
The invitation stated, “Come dressed in your best pair of jeans and don't forget your sparkle!” So I instantly knew it was going to be something I was interested in.
The Valley United Way hosted Denim & Diamonds in order to raise money for their programs and get people in the community together for a fun night out. There was dancing, socializing, prizes, and food and drink.
Jones Winery was there for most of the evening doing wine tastings of three of their delicious wines.
How did it go?
As people started to arrive and mingle, the large banquet room started to buzz with conversation. Everyone was sociable and easy to talk to. I met a few new people right away.
The first hour or so was spent eating and drinking, buying raffle tickets, and socializing. Many attendees took advantage of the wine tasting as well.
A dance stage was set up in the middle of the room near the DJ, which Joe Pagliaro helped liven up after dinner.
The dance floor became crowded during party songs such as The Electric Slide, The Macarena, and The Cupid Shuffle. Photographer Fred Ortoli captured many smiling faces on the dance floor throughout the rest of the night.
Raffle prizes were given out about three hours into the event. All of the beautiful jewelry was donated by local retailers. Even though I did not win anything, I was happy for those who did.
Final notes
I had a great time at this event and will look forward to attending next year. The Valley United Way does a lot for our community and I am happy to support them.
It is thanks to the hard work by people such as Pat Tarasovic, Joe Pagliaro, Sara German, and everyone at the United Way that the Valley is such a great place to live, work, and play.
