Puppy Bowl IX - Watch This Sunday (Before the Super Bowl)

Will you be watching the Super Bowl this Sunday? How about the Puppy Bowl? Even if you only switch over to the Puppy Bowl during the pregame show commercials, it is worth it.

Details
The Puppy Bowl will air for the ninth consecutive year this Sunday from 3pm-5pm ET on Animal Planet.

What is the Puppy Bowl?
The Puppy Bowl is Animal Planet's annual Super Bowl Sunday show. All 63 puppy participants come from shelters and animal rescues from around the country.

The main goal of the show is to raise awareness about how great shelter and rescue dogs are and how many need homes.

Animal Planet has done a fabulous job with this show. It is engaging and fun to watch since the commentators act like it is a real football game. The color commentary is especially entertaining. They even have real sponsors and do commercial spots in a fake locker room.

The Game
During the two hour “game”, the puppies run around the miniature football field chasing balls and tackling each other.

You will hear the commentators as they announce each furry fumble, terrier touchdown, and puppy penalty. Instant replay will be sure to capture all of those extra cute and unbelievable moments.

Meet the Rest
New to the show this year is the hamster blimp. This bird’s eye view of the game will make sure none of the action is missed.

Keep an eye out for the peppy hedgehog cheerleaders will be cheering for all the players from the sidelines.

One staple of the show is the human referee, who is always around to make sure the players are safe and playing by the rules. He has become a popular character of the show over the years.

Halftime
At halftime, while the puppies are resting, the kittens will take over. Once again, The Kitten Halftime Show will astonish and amaze you with cuteness. If you will be watching the game with friends, get ready for the chorus of awws!
