Exercise, Schmexercise for Young People?

I keep hearing different theories on amounts of necessary exercise for young people (2-19 years of age). What is the right amount and frequency?

I keep hearing different theories on amounts of necessary exercise for young people (2-19 years of age).  Some studies show that daycares don't have enough programs to keep the kids physically active (I don't know if I agree with that or not).  Some studies show it varies based on ethnicity (I don't know if I agree with that either - how could this be a large enough study?)  But anyway.....

What is the right amount and frequency?  Even the CDC has something to say about this topic!

And then reading into it some more.....the CDC lays out different types of physical activity with activity ideas to help along.

Here's my question though.....where does school recess and gym class fall in?  Are you covered for the day if your child has either or both in school that day?  What do you think? Tell us in the comments.
