Are Skin Care Products Harmful?

It is a good thing the skin is the largest organ but also the thinnest because it can be used as a great delivery system for medication.  The first commercial prescription patch was approved by the FDA in December 1979.  This first patch became what is called the transdermal patch which is a medicated adhesive patch placed on the skin to deliver a specific dose of medication through the skin and into the bloodstream.  The patch provides a controlled release of the medication over a period of time. A wide variety of pharmaceuticals are now available in transdermal patch form.  It is highly successful in delivery of pain relieve and the delivery of nicotine for the smoker trying to break the habit. It is even used in birth control.
