Echo Hose Now Needs Gift Cards, Furniture for Fire Victims

Displaced victims from Monday's fire now need gift cards.

According to the Echo Hose Fire Department's Facebook page:
"As of right now we are no longer in need of clothing but will not turn any of it away if brought. We are currently looking for gift cards to stores like Walmart, Target, Stop & Shop, Lowes, Home Depot, Sears etc.

"Also at this time we will be looking for certain types of furniture or gift cards to furniture stores to help setup their new homes."

If you have any questions, you can stop by the fire house and talk to the volunteers working there. Otherwise, please call only as a last resort.

"Our phones have been ringing non stop since the start of the event and our volunteers are a bit overwhelmed (203) 924-4200. We are also still looking for more volunteers so stop on down if you would like to help," the department posted.

Meanwhile, Howe Avenue is closed downtown until 4 p.m. today, Jan. 9, police said.
