Shelton Residents Featured in Earth Day Video

April 22 marks a day solely devoted to honoring, appreciating and raising awareness about our planet. This year, Capsells has developed an Earth Day video featuring people of all ages and their promises for bettering the environment.

Earth Day Promise was directed by Capells eCommerce and Marketing Manager Gina Scarpa and produced by videographer Brian Maresca. Filming took place at Riverview Park in Shelton and included resident from around the Valley and as far away as Maine. Ages ranged from 5 years old to 71.

Shelton participants featured in the video include Justine Critchley, Janne Dolan, Bill Dyer, Ferdinand Gojani, Connor Hackett, Kyla Hackett, Tom Harbinson, Amy Kutniewski, Bobby Marcinauskis, Lisa Masone, Leah Joy Pearson, Aidan Peluso, Leah Salamoni, Fran Scarpa, Gary Scarpa, Mia Scarpa, Kathleen Shannon and Marc Weissman.

“It was wonderful to see so many local people come together and share the changes they want to make,” Scarpa said. “Water conservation can be as simple as turning off the faucet when you brush your teeth.”

The first Earth Day, held in 1970, yielded unforeseen results. It saw the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the passing of the Clean Air, Clean Water and Endangered Species Acts. By 1990, Earth Day had gone global, with 200 million people participating across 141 countries.

Earth Day Promise aims to show people that no matter how large or small their contribution, one commitment towards preserving the planet can make a difference.
