National Crime Prevention Program Conducts Seminar

Shelton, Connecticut ‑ A seminar for the nationally recognized Refuse To Be A Victim® crime prevention program will be conducted on Tuesdays,  November 20 & December 4, 2012, 7:00PM -9:30 PM, at  Shelton Community Center .  Dr. Mike Ptaszynski, is the NRA Certified Facilitator. Refuse To Be A Victim® is from the National Rifle Association.

The Refuse To Be A Victim® four hour seminar promotes awareness and prevention of criminal confrontations. Seminar topics include home, automobile, phone, technology, travel and personal security. Seminar participants are presented with a variety of common‑sense crime prevention and personal safety strategies and devices they may integrate into their daily lives.

Refuse To Be A Victim® was developed in 1993 in response to requests from women nationwide for crime prevention seminars.  In 1997, the program became co‑ed.  With hundreds of instructors nationwide, seminars have been presented in 50 states and the District of Columbia.  Thousands of men and women have benefited from the program's life saving message.

The program has been endorsed by members of the law enforcement community nationwide, such as police officer and Refuse To Be A Victim® certified instructor Paris Washington of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who said, "As citizens, we must be part of the solution, not part of the problem."

Patrick Harris, Executive Director of the Virginia Crime Prevention Association said, “Everyone should consider the possibility of — and be prepared to defend themselves — from a criminal attack. However, if they have not adopted the proven personal safety routines recommended by Refuse To Be A Victim®, then they may have surrendered their option of refusing to be a victim of crime.”

The seminar will be conducted at 7:00-9:30PM , Tuesdays , November 20 & December 4,  2012, at  Shelton Community Center, 41 Church St., Shelton, CT.  Space is limited.  Tuition is $35 per student. 80-Page booklet and Certificate of Participation are provided.
