BaGua & XingYi in Shelton

BaGua & XingYi in Shelton

BaGua (PaKua) is a Chinese art of moving meditation and self-defense based on the Book of Changes (i.e., the IChing; BaGua literally means "eight diagrams"). BaGua emphasizes the use of horizontal actions and the open palm. BaGua's movements are circular. XingYi (Hsing-I) is a Chinese art of moving meditation that stresses the use of vertical actions and the fist. Hsing-I's movements are more linear. These art forms are relatively new to western cultures, but have been gaining in popularity in recent years. They are similar in many ways to the more familiar exercises of T'aiChi, Ch'i Kung, and even Yoga.
