Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Shelton

Snow and ice are expected into Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Northern Fairfield County, including the Shelton area. It is in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday (tomorrow).

"A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving," the statement reads.

Smow accumulation of two to four inches is possible, along with a teneth of an inch of ice buildup. In addition, strong winds could down tree limbs covered in heavy ice and snow. Homeowners are advised to make sure holiday decorations are not an additional hazard during this time. Power outages are possible.

Temperatures will be in the low thirties with gusts of winds up to 50 mph at times.
