Spring & Summer Community Center Classes

In Parks and Rec news, a variety of classes are being offered starting now through mid-June. Additional lists for later summer classes will be posted as registration dates draw nearer.

The Shelton Parks & Recreation Department is offering the following classes at the , 41 Church Street. Space is limited so those interested must pre-register in person; cash or check only. After a class has started, people may still sign up as long as there is room.

Information about the pool is posted on the city website: www.cityofshelton.org, under Community Services > Recreation Center > Pool Information. All other classes are posted on the Community Center Programs bulletin board located in the lobby.  Information/Cancellation Phone Line: 203-331-4120.

Cardio Kickboxing starts May 10, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 pm, 8 weeks, $45.

Boot Camp starts May 18, Wednesdays, 7:30-8:30 pm, 8 weeks, $45.

Youth Art Grades 1-6 starts May 18, Wednesdays, 4:15–5:30 pm, 6 weeks, $60.

Zumbatomic starts May 18, Wednesdays, Ages 5-8 is 4:30-5:15 pm, Ages 9-12 is 5:15-6:00 pm, 6 weeks, $35.

Pottery on Mondays starts May 23---No class May 30, July 4,

Pottery on Thursdays starts May 26, 6:30–9:00 pm, 8 weeks, $80 check or cash + $20 to Instructor for supplies.

Yoga starts May 24, Tuesdays, 10:15–11:15 am, 8 weeks, $45.

Children’s Tumbling starts June 3, Friday mornings for 4 weeks, 2 Years old - With Parent 9:00-9:30 am or 9:30-10:00 am, $20; 3 Years old - Without Parent 10:00-10:30 am or 10:30-11:00 am, $20; 4-5 Years old - Without Parent 11:00-11:45 am, $25.  

Body Sculpting starts June 6 - No class July 4, Mondays & Wednesdays, 8:30–9:30 am, 8 weeks, $45.

Cardio Mix starts June 6 - No class July 4, Mondays & Wednesdays, 9:30–10:30 am, 8 weeks, $45.   

Music & Me starts June 7, Tuesdays, 10:00–10:45 am, 6 weeks, $60.  

Beginner Drum class starts June 7 – no class June 14, Tuesdays, 6:30 – 7:30 pm, 4 weeks, New Students:  $55, Returning Students:  $45.

The Shelton Parks and Recreation is holding registration for a United States Tennis Association New England Jr. Team Tennis league that will begin play June 13, 2011. The league is open to Shelton children ages five to 18 with some prior tennis experience. Each team will practice once per week at Shelton High School tennis courts and play six matches, three home and three away, from June 24 through July 31. Jr. Team Tennis is a multi-week, co-ed program of practice and match play for children ages five to 18. Teams are comprised of players of similar age and skill, and they compete against other teams from the same geographic region in one of five age divisions: 8 & under, 10 & under, 12 & under, 14 & under or 18 & under. Teams have the opportunity to advance to contend for district, sectional and national championships.

To sign up for Jr. Team Tennis league, please contact Shelton Parks and Recreation by May 27 at 203-925-8422 with your child's name, date of birth, email and phone number.  Team assignments, practice schedule, and information to register online will be provided to parents by June 1st.
