Shelton Dogs Have Their Day [Video]

The mayor signed a proclamation declaring September 10 "Responsible Dog Ownership Day"

Mark your calendars! September 10 is officially Responsible Dog Owner Day (RDOD).

At a special meeting in Thursday night, Mayor Mark A. Lauretti signed a proclamation for the American Kennel Club's "Applause for Paws!" campaign, which focuses on keeping man's best friend healthy and happy.

Shelton's Trap Falls Kennel Club will host the RDOD event on Sept. 10 from 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. at River Walk Park.

This year, the Trap Falls Kennel Club event will honor America’s Canine Service Heroes by having Police Dog and Search & Rescue Demos, which will illustrate how these dogs perform an invaluable service to the community.

Admission is free but attendees should bring pet care items to donate, benefiting “Presents 4 Pets,” an organization that raises awareness about homeless animals, local shelters and rescue organizations. They also give much needed pet care supplies to the animals and help keep these shelters operational.
