Kennedy Center’s Four Seasons Ball To Honor Armando Goncalves and People’s United Bank

Come celebrate the new fall season at an upcoming special event that is always memorable.  Reserve the night of Saturday, October 29 for the Kennedy Center‘s 47th Annual Four Seasons Ball, which will take place at the Patterson Club, 1118 Cross Highway, Fairfield.This popular gala features a social hour with hors d’oeuvres, full-course dinner, and dancing to the band Cracked Ice. Black tie optional and elegant attire is requested.

The ball is being co-chaired by Anne and Peter Foley of Fairfield, while the chair of the Tribute Journal is Vincent Santilli of Trumbull.

Armando F. Goncalves, President of People’s United Bank, Connecticut– South, and People’s United Bank, will be recognized as this year’s Tribute Journal honorees. People’s United Bank and Goncalves, one of its executives, are being feted for their ongoing generous support of the community, included The Kennedy Center’s Unique Perspective Calendar. For over 25 years, People’s United Bank has been a major sponsor of this calendar, which features vibrant artwork created by talented Kennedy Center artists with disabilities.

Proceeds from the Ball will benefit The Kennedy Center’s residential services for people with disabilities, including: 16 group homes; a supported living option program, a family support and respite service, and the nationally recognized Caring for the Caregiver Program that offers support for parents of family members who are developmentally disabled.

Goncalves manages the overall strategic direction for branches in both retail and business banking in Southern Connecticut and Westchester, New York. Active in his community, Goncalves is a Board Member of Action for Bridgeport Community Development (ABCD), Member and Past President of the Bridgeport Rotary Club, Board Member of the Fairfield Public Education Foundation as well as a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the Bridgeport Regional Business Council. He is also a Board Member of the Barnum Festival, and Board Member and Past Chair of the Greater Bridgeport Community Enterprises, Inc. Goncalves is also active with The Workplace of Fairfield County and Swim Across the Sound. In addition, he also served on Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch’s transition team and currently serves on the Mayor’s advisory cabinet.            

He has been honored with numerous community service and volunteerism awards including the People’s United Bank Community Leadership Award, the State of Connecticut Governor’s Award for Community Service, the ABCD Community Service Award, the YMCA Award, and most recently, the Good Scout Award.            

Goncalves most recent recognition of his commitment to the community was through his tenure as the 2011 Barnum Festival Ringmaster, in which he led more than 100 volunteers through 18 events in celebration of “communities united.” The Festival is one of the longest running community events in Connecticut.            

He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Sacred Heart University and is a graduate of the National School of Banking. Goncalves lives in Fairfield with his wife, Nancy. They have two sons, Brian, an attorney in Manhattan, and Kevin, who is pursuing a Ph.D. at Tufts University in Boston.
