Pedestrian Alert Signs, But No Crosswalks

Ever noticed the signs on Bridgeport Avenue, but the lack of crosswalks?

I was driving down Bridgeport Avenue on Tuesday, as I do on a nearly daily basis, and noticed something peculiar at 350 -- the plaza with Planet Pizza and Blue Lotus Nail Spa.

There is absolutely signage for pedestrians, but no crosswalks or sidewalks anywhere near this area. Have you ever noticed this before? Am I the only one who finds it odd?

"They also have no sidewalks on this main artery. With the frequent busstops, etc, there needs to be a safe walking route from downtown to Shelton Square. A bike lane would be nice too...maybe a kid would actually get on a bike if they could safely ride to Wendys or Starbucks." - Aimee Peterson

Leah, I have never actually noticed the signs, but I have noticed a complete lack of sidewalks throughout the entire town...with the exception of the town center. No sidewalks is something I find very odd...and contributes to the negative view that suburban towns such as Shelton have earned themselves over the years.

Hey Chris --
Thanks for your comment. There is actually a Board of Aldermen street committee meeting on Tuesday, Feb 5 at 6 p.m. in City Hall. The public is welcome to attend, so maybe this is something you'd like to bring up!

Why is it the panel for this event does not include a single advocate for gun-owners' rights? WithRead More all due respect to Chief McNamara, why does the panel no include a person who can speak to gun safety from a gun-owning civilian's perspective? ML, you claim that the assembled folks "do not offer judgements about gun ownership" but they are not including a single voice that can offer perspective on gun ownership. I have been to "education" sessions sponsored by Meg's March for Change and they are one-sided indoctrinations into gun control advocacy. >>>> I was in Hartford for the public hearings in January when both Meg and March co-founder Nancy gave their personal testimonies and they all but threatened the legislators on the panel with election day retribution for all those who did not tow the gun-control line of thinking (i.e. March and CAGV). To suggest that Meg "does not offer judgements" is fallacious and disingenuous.
