How to Stay Informed During Hurricane Sandy

Shelton Patch takes pride in updating readers with information they need to know to keep themselves and their families safe. Learn how we can help.

As baseball great Yogi Berra would say, “It’s déjà vu all over again.”

All this talk about Hurricane Sandy is an eerie reminder to what we heard before Irene last year:

  • The meteorologists tell us it’s a hurricane, but it could turn to a tropical storm (I think we want the latter, but I'm not sure I could tell you the difference);
  • The governor, the Red Cross and just about everyone else is urging us be prepared;
  • A certain utility company is telling us it's ready to tackle the storm and get any power outages restored quickly (let’s hope it's true, this time).

And, just like last year, we here at Patch are preparing to arm you with all the information you'll need to get through the storm.

Readers, who also helped us tremendously with their constant updates, learned they could count on Patch's interactive platform for the most up-to-date information; that is a badge of honor we wear with pride.

So it goes without saying that we plan to do the same over the next few days, or for as long as Sandy muddies our collective lives.
