Flooding in Shelton Drives Residents Out of Homes

As the snow melts and Housatonic River rises, it is causing flooding near Indian Well state park.

Last night's rain, combined with the melting snow, have caused flooding concerns throughout the state, resulting in road closures and sometimes dangerous driving conditions.

The Maples community in Shelton, along the Housatonic River and near Indian Well state park, evacuated many of its residents to the EMS headquarters.

Of the 42 houses in that community, 40 of them are affected by the flooding, according to one of the residents.
