Fall Leaf Collection Starts Oct. 27

2012 Fall leaf collection information for Shelton residents. Compost site opens next week, curbside pickup is in November.

During the fall season of 2012, the compost site on Willoughby Road, next to Elizabeth Shelton School, will be open as follows:

October 27 - December 8

  • Monday through Friday: 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 7 a.m. - noon
  • Closed November 12 (Veteran’s Day)
  • Closed November 22 (Thanksgiving Day)

Anyone bringing leaves to the compost site in containers other than biodegradable paper bags must remove non-conforming container from the site.

The first citywide curbside collection of bagged leaves (brown paper biodegradable bags only) will begin on Monday, November 12, and end on Friday, November 16.

Bagged leaves should be placed at the curbside on the regular trash collection day. Please be sure to keep leaf bags apart from your regular trash. In the event of a snowstorm, leaf bags should be left out at the curbside. They will be collected as soon as possible.

The second and last citywide curbside collection of bagged leaves will begin Monday, December 3 and end on Friday, December 7.
