Making The Slab More Child Friendly

What do you think about bringing a Playground to the Slab in Downtown?

With all the open space we have at the downtown slab, what some also refer to as the Riverwalk, you would think by now the city would have taken some steps in the direction of making it more family friendly right?

Often the lights are out, the bugs are sometimes uncontrolable for evening walks. But the one thing that I really think the city should work on is funding for a playground for children.

Not only would it be beneficial to this area of Shelton, but there is decent parking, it would be a great option for entertainment for the various fairs that take part on the slab, but also it would encourage more downtown families to use the area which the city spent a pretty penny on not too long ago.

Of course there are playgrounds at Sunside School, and at Riverview park, but for those who live in the Downtown area, and may not have access to a vehicle would be able to actually walk there, because there is a large population of children living in the number of apartments in the Downtown area.

Maybe a group of citizens in the community should start a fundraiser, or bring a proposal to city hall during one of their meetings.  I mean, if we aren't looking out for our children who will?
