Wells Hollow Farm Gets a Reprieve...For Now

A proposal to build apartments was withdrawn but a smaller version may be refiled.

A proposal to build apartment on Wells Hollow Farm on Bridgeport Avenue has been withdrawn but a smaller version is expected to be filed.

The farm is the last working farm on Bridgeport Avenue, said Planning and Zoning Administrator Rick Schultz.

Attorney Stephen R. Bellis, the attorney for Hawks Ridge of Shelton LLC, said in a letter, "Please withdraw our application without prejudice. Hawk's Ridge will be filing a new application with a significant reduction of residential units and new road configuration."

The original proposal called for a 60-unit single family development and 80 multi-family developments at 71 Long Hill Cross Road and 76 Beard Sawmill Road. Neighbors and city officials objected to the design, especially residents of Long Hill Cross Road.
