Shelton Business Owner Realizing a Dream

For Magalis Sandoval, her business literally started with a dream.

The 34-year-old Bridgeport resident and licensed clinical social worker recently opened "Dreaming of Isis" at Center Street and Howe Avenue where she hopes to give intuitive readings and hold counseling sessions, in addition to selling homemade jewelry made with her 12-year-old daughter's help. Her Website is dreamingofisis.com, named after her toddler.

Sandoval's grand opening was Nov. 23, but she was giving readings and selling jewelry from a location in Captain's Cove last summer. Before that, she spent about six years as a social worker in an addiction and recovery center.

"I saw myself where I used to work and literally walking to a different location," Sandoval said of her inspiring dream.

Sandoval has a varied religious background. She is half Cuban and Mexican and was baptized Catholic. She's also experienced many other religions, including Santeria. Now she describes herself as "spiritual."

So far, she said business has been "steady."

"I'm still reaching out to people," Sandoval said.

The jewelry starts at $2 and counseling sessions $25 for each 15 minutes. Groups cost $10 to $20 per person per session.

The store can be reached at 203-924-2824.
