Good Humor Trucks Running Short on Ice Cream

The company that supplies the trucks doesn't have enough of some of the classic bar favorites, including Toasted Almond and Chocolate Eclair.

Some of the Good Humor ice cream trucks that roll through neighborhoods and along beaches in the summer, dispensing their cool treats, are out of several popular bar varieties. The nationwide shortage could continue throughout the summer, the Huffington Post reports.

Toasted Almond Crunch, Chocolate Eclair and Candy Center Crunch are on back order for the trucks but won't be available until at least the end of July and possibly not even then.

The shortage is the result of an unusually warm spring and early summer in other parts of the country, coupled with a shutdown of a plant in Pennsylvania that produces the ice cream bars. The plant's operations are being consolidated with another facility.

But don't despair. The shortage effects only Good Humor truck sales. The boxed variety of those ice cream treats can still be found in the grocery store.
