Support Shelton Non-Profits Through The Great Give 2012

Ready. Set. Give! Donate to local non-profits and they could win more money!

This year, over 200 local non-profits are participating in The Great Give 2012, the premiere online giving event for non-profits in the Greater New Haven region. For 36 hours, starting 8 a.m. on October 16th and lasting until 8 p.m. Oct. 17th , a charitable donation made through a secure online source to an organization of your choosing will make it eligible to win $20,000 or more in grant prizes.

The Shelton non-profits participating this year are:

  • Shelton Economic Development Corporation
  • Valley United Way
  • Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley
  • Area Congregations Together
  • Center Stage Theatre
  • Wesley Heights

The Valley Community Foundation, based in Derby, will match donations given to Valley-based non-profits up to $100, and they have a total matching pool of $20,000 available.

Giving to a Shelton organization is simple: Just click here for the city's search results to learn more about the six groups participating. You can also go to www.TheGreatGive2012.org to look up any organization and make a donation.

Why is it the panel for this event does not include a single advocate for gun-owners' rights? WithRead More all due respect to Chief McNamara, why does the panel no include a person who can speak to gun safety from a gun-owning civilian's perspective? ML, you claim that the assembled folks "do not offer judgements about gun ownership" but they are not including a single voice that can offer perspective on gun ownership. I have been to "education" sessions sponsored by Meg's March for Change and they are one-sided indoctrinations into gun control advocacy. >>>> I was in Hartford for the public hearings in January when both Meg and March co-founder Nancy gave their personal testimonies and they all but threatened the legislators on the panel with election day retribution for all those who did not tow the gun-control line of thinking (i.e. March and CAGV). To suggest that Meg "does not offer judgements" is fallacious and disingenuous.
