Employees Return to Latex Factory After Two Fires Burned Basement

Fires that broke out June 26 and June 30 cost the Latex Foam International factory more than $3 million in damages.

After two fires just a few days apart damaged Shelton's Latex Foam International factory, employees were scheduled to return to work Monday, according to NBC Connecticut.

The first fire, on June 26, was believed to have started around the industrial mattress-drying machines in the basement. The second emergency, on June 30, involved smoking debris in the basement where the first fire broke out.

NBC Connecticut reported the latex mattress and pillow factory lost more than $3 million in damaged property from the first fire, and four firefighters were injured.
