Calling all blackberry lovers.... the blackberries are perfectly ripe making the timing, just right for the 2nd Annual Blackberry Festival at White Silo Farm. The festival takes place on Saturday, August 18, and Sunday, August 19, from noon to 5 p.m. The farm is located on 32 Upland Pastures Rd., Sherman, CT. Festivalgoers will have an amazing choice of dishes made from the fresh blackberry's picked on the farm. The dishes include: Blackberry Crisp, Blackberry Sorbet with mint, Blackberry Cheese Plate, Blackberry Peach Trifle, Pork Tenderloin with Blackberry Sauce and a Blackberry Salad.
To round out this delectable event, White Silo Farm and Winery is providing live music on both days from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. On Saturday "Kirk at the Keyboard" will delight festivalgoers and on Sunday, Martin Meyer with his amazing acoustic solos will perform.
The Gallery at White Silo Farm is featuring the Monotype/ Collages of Ellen Lazarus and Marcia Korotkin as well as the sculptures of Justin Perlman through August 26.
Another highlight of this event is the Farm and winery tours that will be offered each day.
On Saturday, August 25, the White Silo Farm and Vineyard will be hosting two two special performances outdoors in the fields. From 1:00-2:30 p.m., Jami Ray (akaConga J.) will organize an interactive drumming circle. Following the drumming circle, Rebecca Moore and Dancers will showcase an afternoon of energetic dancing and live music, from 3 - 5 p.m. Dancers include: Wanessa Anderson, Shannon Chapman, Kerry Gallagher, Carissa Monroe, and Jillian Sawyer. Both events are free.
Berry picking will be limited this year due to weather. The picking will officially begin on August 24th but is best to check the White Silo's Facebook Page for picking updates.

They are a family operated boutique winery specializing in small batch fruit and grape wine production. In addition to their wine they make gourmet farm products and grow a variety of berries, fruits and vegetables.
The Farm and Winery is open for wine tastings April thru December, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and major holidays 11-6 PM. During the season they host a number of special events featuring their farm fruit and vegetables. From mid August through October they offer pick-your-own raspberries and blackberries.
