Window Smashing Leads to Arrest in 2011 Trumbull Burglary

Trumbull Police said a smashed window at Knecht's garage led to a Monroe man's arrest after Trumbull police found a car and items reported stolen in an earlier car break-in in Monroe.

The suspect was also caught on the security camera breaking the window, police said.

He is also a suspect in break-ins at JC Penney and Gene's Auto in Trumbull, and allegedly stole cell phones from the Westfield Trumbull Mall, police said. 

He allegedly confessed, police said.

A Darien woman who had just moved into her apartment told police that late Sunday night she saw the knob of the apartment's front door move around.

When she opened it to see what was going on, a 56-year-old man who lived in the same building was in the hallway and started yelling and swearing at her, but not making any sense. He grabbed her and , she said.

Police said the man appeared intoxicated and gave them different accounts of what had happened. He was charged with disorderly conduct.
